I started simplyneutral out of necessity, or as some would say, a negative experience. I look at it a differently....my body was kind enough to have told me "it has had enough..." and you know the amazing thing? I listened to it!
My daughter had what doctors would call eczema...I knew there was a reason she had a rash. I followed my mothers intuition and kept trying different things. When I stopped breastfeeding (mastitis for the fifth time, hello there was a reason she was not draining me..) I introduced Paige to formula. She would develop an instant rash around her mouth. I fought the pediatricians, even my own husband, I knew there was something wrong! I finally switched her to soy formula. That did the trick. When she turned one, I introduced cheeses, milk, etc. Not good. I took her to an allergist, and sure enough, she was allergic to the enzymes in milk. This experience, coupled with my vegan cooking class, opened my eyes to listening to the body.
I left my banking career in order to avoid daycare for my children. I started cleaning homes part-time. After a few months I developed an itchy rash under my wedding ring. Soon after, a rash on my face, arms, etc. It became so bad I could not wear make up, perfumes, lotions, etc. I FINALLY figured out it had to do with the cleaning products I was using. I was soon mixing my own cleaners...
My point to all of this is...my daughter now eats a more healthy diet than most, as does our whole family. I started a business that makes cleaners safe enough for people with asthma, allergies, and MCS. All of this was done because of my gut, or mothers instinct. I also listened to my body. We discuss what your body craves at different times of the year (cooking class.) Your body usually craves what is in season locally. Your instinct and body are amazing and will send the signals and answers...you just need to listen. You can take a negative experience and make it positive.
