Daughters of the Earth Alliance, Women Rise Up

We are the women who believe that we can bring the change that we want to see into the world. Our lives, both privately and in circle are rich, deep, archetypal and meaningful. Our connection with ourselves, each other and the earth inspire us.

Dear women,
I am not sure what to think yet about Mamalutions as I think we are so busy in the mamalutions that there is little time to communicate. For me, we raised up the five temples on the land on Aug 7 - 10th and it was really incredible. Our women's council was profound for me this year as women spoke of many issues from race, to sustainability, to unity, to our children, to having the courage to see what we will carry on and conserve.
We had one temple that is raised for women's diversity and healing and we used it as an ongoing council space throughout our gathering. Dale Allen gave an unbelievably inspiring performance at the firecircle with us as she unveiled her beautiful work of In Our Right Minds.
The women drummers, dancers, singers, storytellers delighted us through the night on Saturday. On Sunday the land rang out with our healing cries from breathwork as we collectively grieved, raged, and triumphed over our fears. Every eye glistened.
We are even more committed. I am thinking of actually having applications for Daughters of the Earth next year so that we draw into our gathering women who are truly committed to being women leaders and mentoring our youth. Ah, the youth. Some have been with us for four years now and to see them growing in this community of women is really astonishing. They are so wise and so incredibly grateful to be connected in this way with older women. It is just fantastic.
Then I went on a much needed rest to the mountains and lakes of the Adirondacks because I am a daughter of the earth.

A small committed group of us sat at a meal today and discussed what our large women's council should focus on. Each of us being activists had pretty long faces when we first sat down because of all that is going down with families and women in community at this time. Particulary people who are hit the hardest when finances get hard.

I thought of titling our council at Daughters of the Earth for 2008, "So what the hell are we going to do now?" Council Do you think that is too straight forward. Laugh out loud. Always looking for new paradigms. ALisa

If I still lived in Massachusetts I would be there in a heartbeat!
I am founder of zolagoods.com, which in practical terms uses the home party model to get the word out about eco-friendly products - but on another level, it is about the power of women's cirles and how we can come together to make big changes in the world.
Best wishes to you and I want to hear all about the weekend!

I am about to enter the real time world of Daughters of the Earth Gathering on the land of Earthlands in Massachusetts. It is really like a dream. Five women's temples are raised and 28 teachers now will come to the gathering with their gifts of song, storytelling, activsm, dance, drum, ceremony, wisdom. My mentor of 23 years who is now in her late sixties stands by my side. A fifth of our gathering is our young women eagerly ready to join us.
It is a lot. I've been working most of my summer to raise up the banners in the Medicine Wheel and to welcome the women who will come to gather, council and heal on this land. We could have more women with us and I feel the loss of them for whatever reasons. I am open to you coming. It is a doorway away to reality. Here is where we get down to work together and then bring it back to our communities. It is truly an inspiring place for us to be together.

I am visiting women here. Getting to know who is here, what their work is, what visions they are holding down in their full lives. There are some really amazing women that belong to Mamalution. Just go to any website indicated and you will find a woman holding down a powerful vision while being a mother too. I invite us to a group because here is where we can discuss our passions and get to know each other more. Whether it is here or somewhere else on the site, this is a place where we can let other women know about what we are doing and why it matters to us.

Come on in women. I think we can do better than two members on Daughters of the Earth Alliance among women who are revolutionary mamas. The door is wide open. One of the most important things is to show up. We'll never know unless we find a way to council who is here with a passion.
